Severe Weather Update

The latest high resolution forecast model as of 5:00 pm is still showing some thunderstorms moving through Lubbock between 8:00-10:00 pm. These storms could have strong wind and some large hail. The hail is more likely south of Lubbock, from Plains, to Post and south to I-20. The above photo is the forecast radar at 5:00 tomorrow morning. It is forecasting a large area of showers and storms to be moving in from southeast New Mexico, into out southwest counties. At that time, there is the possibility for large hail and strong wind, generally in the Permain Basin.

As the colder air filters in, the air mass will not be conducive to severe storms tomorrow. The main issue with the weather on Tuesday will be heavy rainfall and flooding. If that large area of rain and storms does impact Lubbock by 5:00 am, it will bring heavy rain to the area for your morning commute. Be sure to dress warm on Tuesday and have your rain gear. We're expecting heavy rainfall with several rounds of showers and storms throughout the day and evening. More rain is expected to move in on Wednesday, as well.
