Limited Severe Coverage

Good afternoon. I just wanted to send an update on the weather for today. There is a small chance at seeing a few severe storms later this afternoon/evening. The yellow areas in the photo above have the best opportunity at seeing those. Any storm has the probability of quarter, to golf ball size hail and wind gusts to 70 mph. Today's coverage is not going to be anywhere close to what we saw on Friday. This is going to be more limited and will focus on areas south of Lubbock and Tahoka. Storms could form by 5:00 pm, or so and quickly move southeast, out of the area, by 7:00-8:00 pm. So it will be a fast moving situation, according to the latest forecast trends.

The photo above is the high resolution computer forecast for 6:00 pm today. As you can see, it is anticipating very minimal coverage, if any, for our area. This forecast did exceptionally well with the forecast yesterday, by the way. I am leaning on this forecast today, pushing storms south of our area. Those that live in Gaines, Dawson and Borden Counties should still keep a heads up this evening should this storm complex form. As listed above, golf ball size hail is possible, which could damage homes and vehicles. Keep an eye to the sky and be weather aware in those southern counties today.

Father's Day is expected to be sunny, very warm and dry. So get out and enjoy it tomorrow and happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
